In the industry today Some Web designers what no clue about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques. But as a web designer or front-end developer this is your responsibility. Because if spend all your time making a beautiful layout and design thats is full of useful content and has no traffic coming in then all your hard work is in vein.
So i’m here to inform you of some useful tips about making search engine friendly website. Because i don’t want anymore web designer or front-end developer to loss out on possible traffic.
Search engine friendly website 101:
- When using images for text or just having images period. It is always good practice to use alt and title tags. This way search engine spiders and screen reader and read that there is an image and make it visible. Mike Rundle offers a very useful technique for search engine friendly image replacement. Web designer Wall Hint:Properly describing your images can help your ranking in the image search results. For example, Google image search brings me hundreds of referrals everyday for the search terms “abstract” and “dj“.
As you can see his deigns are ranked #1 for both Google searches. That really Impressive!
- Avoid using tables for layout this decreases your search engine rankings. When using tables it’s best practice to use them to present data information.
- When running a blog site or cms platform site it it always good to take advantage of pretty URLS. Friendly url are good for people and search engines. It takes the users to the exact topic they are interested in. It can also be use as way to keyword your site.
Example of Friendly URL: domain.com/page-title
Example of Dynamic URL: domain.com/?p=12356

Hmm, this one blog post seems to be yet another one where guys have detected a blog to drop some websites trying to attempt to get the leading search engines, most specifically Google, to rate their sites high. Can not really blame that when a homepage can be considered dead if there’s not linking going on from another few home pages voting for it.
