SEO
SEO best practices is a need to know for every anybody involved in the web industry. So here at Findability101 we are going to tell you the ends and outs of SEO and how not to get Black Listed. By starting with what SEO stands for SEO is ( Search Engine Optimisation ) .
- So as a developer you always want to start with a clean mark-up (xhtml) that meets web-standards. So don’t use table unless it is for data or record. Practice web standards by replacing your <td >and <tr> with <div> and <span> tags. This make is easier for search engine to read your content.
- Don’t try to trick the search engines by hide content. If you don’t know what i mean, don’t use white text on a white background. Also don’t stuff your meta keywords with a long list. Google will read your content to see if the content is relevant to the keyword. It’s know worth getting black listed.
- Always practice using <alt> and <title> tags on images. This helps search engines know what type of image it is and how it relates to your content. When naming your images keep the file name relevant to the images.
- Create a sitemap for ever site you make and post it on . Mostly because it helps the users find there way around your site just in cause they get lost. Secondly it helps search engine spider find your site and all the page along with it. Blogs need them the most because they tend to become overloaded with pages if you are a frequent blogger. But luckily wordpress has a xml sitemap generator OH THANKS GOD FOR PLUGINS!!
- As i mentions in a earlier blog post. It’s good practice to customize your 404 error pages know if your not must of a designer and more of a developer or you just don’t feel like coming up with a niceĀ page design for this one page. Just do this ADD A REDIRECT LINK to your homepage. It just nice to help your viewers find there way so that come back.
